Fair Use Doctrine and Fraudulent Take-down Requests
Under Section 107 of the Copyright Act 1976, allowance is made for "fair use" for purposes such as criticism, commenting, news reporting, teaching, scholarship, and research. Fair use is a use permitted by copyright statute that might otherwise be infringing. Non-profit, educational or personal use tips the balance in favor of fair use.
[T]he fair use of a copyrighted work, including such use by reproduction in copies or phonorecords or by any other means specified by that section, for purposes such as criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching (including multiple copies for classroom use), scholarship, or research, is not an infringement of copyright.
17 U.S.C. § 107 (United States Code, Article 107)

Fraudulent DMCA (Digital Millennium Copyright Act) Takedown Requests will not be tolerated. This includes the most common violation (take-down requests through media outlets such as Youtube).
Fraudulent DMCA takedowns (which include false Youtube copyright infringement claims) are illegal, a violation of Romans 13, and are punishable by law:
Any person who knowingly materially misrepresents under this section—
(1) that material or activity is infringing, or
(2) that material or activity was removed or disabled by mistake or misidentification, shall be liable for any damages, including costs and attorneys’ fees, incurred by the alleged infringer, by any copyright owner or copyright owner’s authorized licensee, or by a service provider, who is injured by such misrepresentation, as the result of the service provider relying upon such misrepresentation in removing or disabling access to the material or activity claimed to be infringing, or in replacing the removed material or ceasing to disable access to it.17 U.S.C.A. § 512 (Article 17, United States Copyright Act, Section 512)
